Richard, our Managing Director, has been in the Engineering Industry for the past 20 years. He was a student at Brooklands Technical college and started out as an Apprentice Engineer for the Post Office, working his way up to Production Manager before leaving the company to pursue his hankering for hands on Engineering & Design. Richard then spent 5 years as a Designer, Production Manager and then Technical Director of a Motorsport and Military Vehicle traction systems company, where he designed and patented 2 successful traction systems which are in military and motorsport service throughout the World, as well as many vehicle Half shafts, crownwheel and pinion gears and differential locks (Diff Locks) for off-road and 4X4's. Some of his past major clients have included: Ricardo, Jankel Armouring & Santana Motors. He has been an Open Univerisity Student and has recently gained a Diploma in Design, to help further his own academic career. Richards ability to work on all sides of the design and engineering processes, from sketching, modelling & CAD through to Manufacturing and finishing (and even technical manual writing and illustrating) give the company a strong all round in-house engineering and design capability.

Richard has also been a keen vintage motorcycle restorer ever since he was 15, starting with British bikes then later specialising in vintage Yamaha 2 stroke machines and road racing machines. He also spent time as a motorcycle mechanic at his local motorcycle shop Haslemere Motorcycles, which is owned by his long term friend Marty Lunde (a successful racer of the 60's & 70's).
Many of Richard's bikes have won prizes at shows, such as "Best Racer" for the YDS1-R at the 2007 VJMC Uttoxeter Show, and "Best Racer" for his TZ 250 at the 2008 Classic Mechanics show at Stafford. Richard's philosophy on restoring bikes is about authenticiy and attention to detail, with practicality and cost also strong influences.
We have had a vast amount of experience particularly with Vintage Yamaha's, having owned and restored a great many different road and race models, such as YDS1's, YDS2's, YDS3's, YDS1R's, TD1's, TD1A's, TD1B's, TD1C's, TD2's, TA125's and TZ's.
