Moto Guzzi Gambalunghino FOR SALE

This is a 100% genuine ex-Arthur Wheeler Guzzi and is the machine he rode to victory in many events, including the 1954 Italian GP & NW200 and 1958 Blandford International etc and achieved a great number of Grand Prix and TT results throughout the 1950's. It originally had his "Dolphin" & "Dustbin" works replica aluminium fairings fitted. The machine now has a later type original ex-Wheeler fibreglass fairing, as used by Wheeler and Lawn (which can be seen in the photo below).

In 1959 it was sold to Trevor Barnes who began his racing career on the machine. He was soon winning on the machine and gained several wins and lap records. He sold the bike in "almost standard Gambalunghino trim" (bar a Norton front end) to finance buying Arthur Wheelers later all-Renolds frame machine.

After Barnes, the bike was sold to and raced by Arthur Lawn. The machine was then fitted with Arthur Wheelers 1st Renolds frame (swing arm convertion) which was made in 1958 then installed on this bike by Arthur Lawn in 1964, who had bought it from Wheeler earlier that year.

This bike was displayed in Murrays Museum on the Isle of Man for a great many years, mostly complete and has a documented history from Arthur Lawn, John Kidson, Trevor Barnes, Ken Sprayson (who built the Renolds frame) and the Wheeler family. Box of spares, Portfolio of photo's and infomation also included

A very historic & desirable machine.
